I Didn't Realize How Often I Was Forgetting to Drink Water

All twenty-one days checked in, none missed.

“I never thought drinking water could be something I need to work on. It sounds so basic, right?

But I started noticing that some days I would reach the evening and realize I barely drank any water. I would be busy with work, doing things around the house, replying to messages and suddenly the whole day is gone.

Sometimes I got a headache or felt tired and then remembered oh, I haven't even finished my water bottle.

So I decided to make a small change. For 21 days, I wanted to be more regular with drinking water instead of only drinking when I felt thirsty. I started keeping a bottle near me and tried to drink throughout the day. I aimed for around 8 glasses, but adjusted depending on the day and how I felt.

The first few days were easy because I was excited to start something new. I kept filling my bottle and felt quite proud of myself honestly

Then I got busy again.

There were days when I reached lunchtime and realized my bottle was still almost full. Other times I would remember just before going to bed and feel annoyed with myself.

I also learned that simply keeping water nearby wasn't enough. I had to actually remember to drink it. So I started drinking a glass after waking up and keeping my bottle where I could see it while working.

That helped more than I expected.

By the second week, it started feeling less like a task. I didn't have to think about it as much, and I became more aware of how little water I was drinking before.

I completed the 21 days, though not every day felt perfect. I still forgot sometimes, especially when I had a lot going on.

But now I usually carry my water bottle with me, and I don't wait until evening to realize I haven't had enough water.

It's a small thing, I know. But I think I needed this reminder that taking care of yourself doesn't always mean doing something big. Sometimes it's just paying attention to the simple things you keep ignoring.

I'm trying to keep this habit going. One day at a time.”
